Culinary tasting in Slovenia - 6 days from 913 €

... At the Ljubljana airport. Visit the charming capital of Ljubljana with your tour guide. Lunch or snack in Ljubljana (traditional sausages or soup). Arrival at the rustic farm in the area of Karst, famous for its Teran wine, its dried prosciutto and for its many caves. The house specialty is steak with prosciutto (Kraški pršut) in a red wine sauce. Just make sure to save room for the family’s impossible-to-say-no-to homemade honey ice-cream!

Breakfast. Visit the beautiful karst town of Stanjel. Tour the town and visit a local family with tasting of local prosciutto and mortadella where they will tell you the story of their classic meat slicer. Join the adjacent valley of Vipava known for the strong wind that blows there and its two unique wines: Zelena and Pinela. History of wine making and wine tasting in the historic village. Then, tasting more wines at the House of Pinots (Black Pinot and Grey Pinot). Return to the farm and eat dinner.

Breakfast. Visit the fascinating underground world of the Skocjan caves. This UNESCO-protected cave features the world's largest underground canyon. Stop in the village on the way to the coast, to see the 12th century church covered with Macabre Dance frescoes. Visit "Slow Food guru", explore its garden of Mediterranean herbs and enjoy local product tastings such as herbal salts, cheese and wine jellies. Visit the beautiful seaside town of Piran before returning to the farm. Have dinner.

Breakfast. Scenic drive heading into the emerald green Soca Valley. Visit a significant World War I museum in the area, before a beautiful nature walk to the waterfall. Meet with the cheese producers in the mountain villages, admire their traditions and taste their products. Dine in the most picturesque wine region of Slovenia, Brda, with local wines (Rebula & Tokaj).

Breakfast. Local olive oil tasting in its very place of production as well as other local product tastings such as cherries (liqueurs, jams and dried fruit).
As an option you can enjoy a delicious five-course meal accompanied by local wines (about three hour duration) in a cellar that is in the list of the 100 best wineries in the world designated by "Wine and Spirits Magazine". Visit the pretty fortified village of Smartno and go to a magnificent viewpoint for the panoramas of the wine-growing region. Tasting of macerated wines and fresh wines in a small village nearby. Dinner at the farm.
